Several new recruiting predictions for Iowa Football

Several new recruiting predictions for Iowa Football

The Iowa football program held their biggest recruiting event of the year this past weekend. This event is built around bringing in their top uncommitted targets to mingle with the verbally pledged players in the Class of 2024 with the hope of coming close to completing the recruiting haul this year.

It might be mission accomplished or close to it for Kirk Ferentz and his coaching staff. Iowa welcomed 21 prospects to campus. Of those who visited, 9 were uncommitted with offers and one was without an offer and not committed.

Thus far, none of the uncommitted prospects have made their verbal commitment to the Hawkeyes, but that’s not stopping the rumblings to emerge from the Hayden Fry Football Complex to suggest it was a very good weekend on the recruiting front.

In fact, I feel comfortable enough to put in several new forecasts in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine coming out of this weekend.

One of them that I had already placed was for Jaylen Watson, the three star defensive back from Toledo. He is the nephew of former Iowa running back Fred Russell and was on his official visit this weekend. Earlier this month I placed my prediction of Watson to Iowa. He is currently at 97.1% to Iowa according to the RPM. Watson is scheduled to announce his college choice on July 8th.

Another defensive back that I have placed an On3 RPM for is Rashad Godfrey, a 6-foot-1 and 185 safety from Armwood High School in Seffner, FL. He picked up the Iowa offer this month and made his official visit this weekend. Godfrey also holds offers from USF, Florida Atlantic, Duke, and Boston College. I have placed my RPM and he is currently at 98.5% to the Hawkeyes according to On3.

Sliding over to the other side of the ball, there are a pair of predictions that I have placed in favor of the Hawkeyes. The first is for wide receiver KJ Parker from IC Catholic High School in the Chicago area. One of his coaches is former Hawkeye Matt Bowen. The 5-foot-11 receiver holds offer from Iowa, Cincinnati, Wisconsin, and Iowa State. I have placed the RPM to Iowa and On3 now says the chances for Hawkeyes is at 97.6%.

Finally, we moved to the tight end position. Last week, Iowa landed a verbal commitment from Michael Burt from Omaha at that position with a plan of taking a pair in the Class of 2024. They could be headed to being full at tight end after this past weekend. I have placed an RPM for Iowa to land Gavin Hoffman. He is a tight end from Overland Park, KS and most believed it was a race between Iowa and Missouri to land his commitment. The On3 RPM now has Iowa at 90.5% to land Hoffman.
