Schools inside and outside of Florida are standing out to 2026 4-star IOL Canon Pickett
Tampa (Fla.) Tampa Bay Tech four-star interior offensive lineman Canon Pickett has already recorded over 20 offers. Michigan, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Oregon and SMU are some of the schools to recently extend them to the 6-foot-4, 260-pound recruit.
Pickett – who is hoping to go to the Cornhuskers and Rebels’ campuses for games in the fall – is also very interested in Florida, Florida State and Miami, along with the Ducks. The brother of 2024 Miami EDGE signee Booker Pickett has already seen the Seminoles – who he “definitely” wants to visit again in the coming months – along with the Gators and the Hurricanes.
“I learned a lot about the recruiting process from going everywhere with Booker and seeing what every school has to offer,” Pickett told On3. “I have to pick what’s best for me. Some people look at a logo or they look at NIL, but I want to pick what’s best for me, best for my development and best for my future.”
Miami has Pickett’s attention early
One school already making a big move for Pickett is Miami. He has family connections to the ACC program, as his father – Booker Pickett Sr. – played for the Hurricanes in the mid-1990s and his brother is starting his college football career in Coral Gables next season.
“Miami is always going to be a top school for me,” said Pickett, the No. 227 overall prospect and No. 20 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 On300. “I recently saw both coach Mario Cristobal and coach Alex Mirabal coaching. I saw that coach Cristobal was working with the o-line, even though he’s the head coach. That stuck out to me.”
Cristobal won a national championship with the Hurricanes while playing on the offensive line and Mirabal has a long track record of developing offensive linemen at stops including Miami and Oregon. The chance to learn from both of them is intriguing to the No. 45 player in Florida.
“That helps them in my recruitment and I know that would help me,” Pickett said. “I know I would be looked at by multiple eyes and get different feedback from different viewpoints. If I choose Miami, I would be able to be developed better by more than one coach.”
Florida and Oregon also stand out to Pickett
Florida is also making a strong push to keep Pickett in the Sunshine State. He has visited the Gators twice this spring, including for their spring game on April 13.
Co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Rob Sale is Pickett’s main contact at Florida and has already visited one of his high school practices. The four-star likes the way Sale coaches his players, as well as his personality.
“I love all of Florida’s coaches,” Pickett said. “I love the staff. I also love the players there. Being in the Swamp feels special.”
Pickett, who “definitely” wants to get back to Florida, is also very interested in Oregon. The Ducks currently have a “good chance” to land him.
Offensive line coach A’lique Terry’s personality and how he develops his players has impressed Pickett. He last visited Eugene for the Ducks’ spring game on April 27.
“I love everything about Oregon,” Pickett said. “I love the players. I love the coaches. I like the environment surrounding it. I love the facilities and how good they are at developing players. I like everything about Oregon.”
