June is a wild month in recruiting. That is for sure. Visit plans can change quickly.
In the case of Texas defensive back target Corian Gipson, he cancelled a weekend visit to Alabama. And of course, that got the Texas and Clemson fans buzzing on what it could mean.
While the 2024 recruitments certainly own the day and month of June, the Texas staff continued with the evaluation process in the 2025 cycle with the Elite Camp June 3. News continues to trickle out about which prospects had standout days last Saturday.
Latest on Corian Gipson
On3’s BamaOnLine reported that On3 Industry Ranking 4-star defensive back Corian Gipson cancelled his official visit to Alabama this weekend.
That is coming on the heels of Gipson’s official visit to Clemson. His third visit to Clemson with family members since late March.
Gipson went into the week with official visits scheduled to Alabama, Ohio State June 16-18 and Texas June 23-25.
But this recruitment is truly about two teams – Clemson and Texas. The confidence around the Texas program remains high on Gipson Saturday morning. Gipson is scheduled to visit Texas on his birthday weekend.
The Longhorns remain leader in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.
Louisiana RB’s in 2025
Two names that have trickled out of Elite Camp last weekend that impressed are from the Pelican State.
Harlem Berry is a name mentioned by Inside Texas a few times since the 2022 season. The No. 20 ranked prospect overall and No. 1 ranked running back had very positive reviews following the Elite Camp.
Berry has 17 offers with LSU, Texas and Alabama receiving the most chatter at this point. He took the Louisiana 1A state title in the 100 meters this spring with a time of 10.57.
A second 2025 running back from the state to know is James Simon. The 5-foot-11, 195-pound 4-star equally impressed the Texas staff last weekend with a blend of quickness, agility, soft hands and skill set at nearly 200-pounds.
Simon followed up with a strong camp performance at Texas A&M June 7. He currently has 17 offers, including the Longhorns.
Quick hitters
Members of the Texas staff and top center target Daniel Cruz had a very good zoom call late in the week. Cruz is at Texas A&M this weekend and Oklahoma June 16-18 prior to Texas June 23-25.
Had a source close to the Jayden Jackson recruitment say Texas, Miami and Ohio State in that order for the 6-foot-2, 300-pounder headed into this weekends visit to Ohio State. Jackson, who is back in Brownsburg, Indiana for the summer, is expected to visit Miami June 16-18 and Texas June 23-25.
On3 Industry Ranking 5-star Dakorien Moore was the best wide receiver at Saturday’s Elite Camp, period. Texas is considered the team to beat with LSU the biggest threat. Moore is expected to visit LSU later this month.
Texas 2025 quarterback commitment K.J. Lacey said he could be attending the Manning Passing Academy June 22-25. Lacey works with QB Country founder David Morris, who has been an instructor at the camp. Inside Texas reported earlier in the week that Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning will be camp counselors.
