Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson will visit Kentucky

Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson will visit Kentucky

Mark Pope and the Kentucky basketball program are not done working in the transfer portal just yet. The Wildcats need some more perimeter shooting and could be looking to adding a starter at the two in the free agency market.

Lamar Wilkerson has been a name on the radar. UK will get the Sam Houston transfer on campus once the current recruiting dead period ends on April 10. The C-USA transfer is planning to visit Kentucky, Indiana, Auburn, and Ole Miss.

Sam Houston transfer Lamar Wilkerson, one of the top guards in the portal, plans to visit Indiana, Kentucky, Auburn and Ole Miss, per his representatives @SerosPartners. Expected to make a decision after those trips.

Lamar Wilkerson is coming off a career-best season where he averaged 20.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists on .477/.445/.822 shooting splits in 34.9 minutes per game. Wilkerson scored in double figures in all 32 games this season and 20-plus points in 17 games. The former junior college transfer was a two-time first-team all-conference performer for the Bearkats.

Kentucky has also been linked to USC transfer Wesley Yates III and Jacksonville State transfer Jaron Pierre Jr. over the last week as the Cats look for another roster addition. However, UK might just have one spot to fill at guard as the program looks to put some shooting around Pittsburgh point guard transfer Jaland Lowe and Arizona State transfer Jayden Quaintance. Wilkerson is one of the best three-point shooters available in the portal.
