Ryan Day reveals no Ohio State recruits were ‘flinching’ in commitment amid job speculation
Ohio State losing its fourth straight game to Michigan was a tough pill to swallow. One that does not last just 24 hours but in today’s college football, the Buckeyes had to move on. Especially Ryan Day and his coaching staff since signing day took place on Wednesday and a big-time class needed to get over the finish line.
A total of 26 guys have signed with Ohio State thus far, good enough for No. 5 in the On3 2025 Industry Team Rankings. Even after there were questions about Day’s future with the program following the Michigan loss, there was not much movement.
In fact, Day believes high school recruits want to play for Ohio State even more and finally break what has been a brutal stretch against Michigan.
“They’ve been great,” Day said. “You can tell by the class, nobody flinching. I think a lot of these guys nowadays have found some balance in not riding the roller coaster and what comes with being at Ohio State, not diving into the extremes of it all. It’s a great sign that didn’t even flinch after this game. I think it motivated them even more to want to come here and win next year.”
A follow-up question was asked, wondering if there were conversations between Day and recruits about his job security. The answer was a short one from the Ohio State head coach, saying “No, no. It never came up.”
Per usual, a good group of players will be joining Ohio State in the near future. Day plans to be in Columbus for the 2025 season but there is still work to do this year. The Buckeyes will be included in the College Football Playoff, most likely hosting a game at Ohio Stadium.
If there is one way to make fans forget about the Michigan loss, being the final team standing in Atlanta would certainly be one of them. Recruits would have to feel quite validated in their decision to stick with Ohio State as well.
