Rusty’s Ramblings: Where Georgia stands with ’24 LB targets

Rusty’s Ramblings: Where Georgia stands with ’24 LB targets

Recruiting has slowed down a little, but it never stops, even in mid July. Georgia currently sits at 26 verbal commits. That still seems crazy to say out loud with 5 months until the Early Signing Period opens for the 2024 class. It just goes to show how the process is so sped up these days with kids being recruited for three to four years.

Looking at the next few weeks, I am still expecting Demarcus Riddick to end up else where. It’s an in-state battle and do not count out Auburn. Sounds like it is really close for Alabama and Auburn..

Now you start looking at UGA and what could they do in this class at ILB? I would pick UGA for Justin Williams and probably Kris Jones as of today.

Williams is the top linebacker in the country and one of the best overall players in Texas according to the On3 Industry ranking. Georgia has had him on campus a few times since late May. It goes without saying that it would a MONSTER addition for the Bulldogs. Based on what I’ve heard here, it looks like this one will be over before we get to late August. There is a lot of buzz around the Bulldogs going into the next few weeks.

When it comes to Jones, I feel like Georgia has been building some momentum with him for a while now. At one point it seemed like Florida had him. He took his time and did not rush his decision and that may pay off for the Bulldogs because it seems that they are the trending team. Glenn Schumann was in Virginia twice this spring and has had Jones in Athens to work out in person.

Chris Cole is worth keeping an eye on as well. He will take another visit to Tennessee at the end of this month. It’ll be his second to Knoxville. Cole will likely cut down his list of teams after that according to a recent article by Chad Simmons.
