Rusty’s Ramblings: 5-star visits coming up for Georgia
Georgia is about two weeks away from a very important stretch of official visits and unofficial visits for prospects in the 2024 class. The annual scavenger hunt weekend will be May 19-21 and that, for me, truly kicks off recruiting season for the 2024 class.
Official visits can be earlier this year and here are some key prospects that have already locked in for that weekend.
At this time, I am expecting Dylan Raiola and Jaden Reddell in Athens for that weekend. Those will NOT be official visits based on everything I’ve heard. Those are two massive Georgia targets in the current recruiting class and getting them on campus outside of official visits is huge.
Five-Star major target KJ Bolden will be there that weekend for at least a day and be back in Athens for his official visit on June 9th weekend. That is also the same weekend that Sammy Brown and family will take their official visit to UGA.
Statesboro defensive back Kam Mikell is expected on campus and it will be a big visit for him and his family. He has been to Athens many times over the last year and half. Fran Brown is a big deal here and I like where Georgia sits currently.
Four-star interior offensive lineman Casey Poe from Texas will be back in town after visiting earlier this spring. Stacy Searels was in Texas last week to see Poe in person.
A name I have not written much about is 2024 offensive tackle Marcus Harrison from New York. The 6-foot-8 lineman has a UGA offer and Searels was in New York to see him workout this past week as well. His Georgia official visit will take place in two weeks.
Colton Hienrich from Florida is a TE that Todd Hartley has watched, offered and continues to recruit. Do not worry about his current ranking. He is HIGHER on the board that counts for him and that is the one in Athens.
Another name, I have not mentioned enough is inside linebacker Joseph Phillips. Glenn Schumann was in Alabama this past week and watched the athletic prospect work out. This would not be an official for him either.
Verbal commits Demello Jones and Dwight Phillips will both be in town to help recruit on scavenger weekend as well.
