Rodney Terry reacts to Kadin Shedrick’s transfer commitment

Rodney Terry reacts to Kadin Shedrick’s transfer commitment

Rodney Terry has had a very good Sunday down on The 40 Acres. First, he regained the services of Dylan Disu as he announced he would be returning to play for the Longhorns. Then, earlier this evening, he earned the commitment of Kadin Shedrick, one of the transfer portal’s top-rated big men, to come to Texas.

Terry couldn’t help but share his excitement about the day, specifically in regards to Shedrick, on Twitter tonight. It was a very well-deserved opportunity for him to throw some horns up considering what he added to his frontcourt today.

Shedrick averaged six points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks while shooting 63.4% from the field in 76 career games for Virginia. His numbers have the chance to get even better, though, as he only played under 18 minutes per game over his career.

That experience and potential earned Shedrick a rating as the No. 40 overall player in the transfer portal per On3’s Portal Rankings. He was also listed as a Top-10 center at No. 7.

This was a massive day for Terry as he added two pivotal pieces for the paint when it comes to next season’s roster. Now, on his first roster as the Longhorn’s official head coach, he’ll have two quality options to rely on down low with Disu’s return and Shedrick’s decision to commit to their program.

More on Shedrick’s commitment to Texas

Virginia transfer Kadin Shedrick has committed to Texas and head coach Rodney Terry, he told On3.

The 6-foot-11, 230-pound center averaged 6.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in just 17.5 minutes per game this season for the Cavaliers, who finished first in the ACC with an overall record of 25-8.

“I chose Texas because I trust the vision that Coach Terry has for me,” Shedrick said to On3. “I’m looking forward to play in a free offense while still playing defense at a high level. I feel like I can show more of what I can do on both ends of the floor at Texas.”

Shedrick, a native of Holly Springs, North Carolina, chose the Longhorns over Duke, Missouri, Kansas State, and Xavier.
