Robinson is Impossible to Miss

Saturday’s decision of Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview Magnet safety Omarion Robinson is one the Sooners have been working toward for months. Since very early in the process Brandon Hall, Brent Venables, and the rest of the Oklahoma staff identified Robinson as a key for their 2025 efforts. And on Saturday he picked Oklahoma over Oregon and Arkansas. What was it that made him such an early priority? We take a look at the tape below.

What’s on Tape for Omarion Robinson

When you talk to coaching staffs one of the surest things they’ll tell you in evaluation is ‘elite guys, you don’t even have to be looking for them – they just show up.‘ And that’s the case for Robinson who makes an impact in so many ways. Whether it’s in the return game, in pass coverage, or even in run defense – the new Sooners commit does it all.

In the opening clips of the reel you see his ability as a return man where he shows impressive burst and just how smooth of an athlete when he is. When Robinson wants to go he has plenty of juice to do so. The nation’s No. 339 overall player’s speed shows up in multiple ways but it’s easy to see on returns.

As a free safety that speed is obviously a useful tool but so are his instinctive skills when the ball is in the air. Oklahoma’s newest pledge at the position stars at receiver and that background shows up routinely on tape. He breaks well on the ball and when it’s in the air he acts as though he is favorite – and often proves to be.

While Robinson’s athleticism and ball skills would make it easy to categorize him as an off ball defender – he shows plenty of physicality. He’s not a player who believes in just dragging down an opponent, he strikes with some authority against receivers.

Robinson is a very complete player that seems yet another big win for Hall and the Sooners.
