Robert Morris’ Alvaro Folgueiras commits to Iowa

Iowa has been as active as any team so far in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Now, the Hawkeyes have added yet another transfer for next season’s roster.

Robert Morris’ Alvaro Folgueiras has committed to transfer to Iowa, per ESPN’s Jonathan Givony. Folgueiras spent the past two seasons with the Colonials.

In 67 games through his underclassman years in Moon Township, Folgueiras averaged 9.9 points (51.9% FG, 36.3% 3PT), 6.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists. That included a jump in his sophomore season this past year to 14.1 points (54.8% FG, 41.3% 3PT), 9.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game.

That won him Horizon League Player of the Year and helped Robert Morris to win both league titles in the regular season and conference tournament. That then took the Colonials into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a decade and, in a first-round matchup with No. 2 Alabama, Folgueiras had 15 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, a block, and a steal in a potential upset of the Crimson Tide.

Per the latest in On3’s 2025 Top Transfer Portal Players, Folgueiras is the No. 17 overall transfer. He also rated as the No. 6 PF in the portal.
