Reports: George Kliavkoff Expected to Present Media Deal

It would appear the Pac-12 conference itself, or Pac-10 or 9 or whatever you want to call it, is set to take the next step. It’s being widely reported Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff will present the leagues media deal on Tuesday.

WildcatAuthority.com publisher Jason Scheer was first to report the news.

Sources indicate to WildcatAuthority the Pac-12 will hold a meeting tomorrow. Numbers will be presented, but there is pessimism within the conference.

This could be George Kliavkoff’s last stand in keeping the conference together.

It is expected the conferences remaining AD’s will be presented the deal from Kliavkoff on Tuesday morning. At the moment there are no confident reporting of the expected numbers.

Last week Colorado made a very public declaration of its decision to move to the Big-12 starting with the 2024 season. There has been widespread speculation others, including Arizona, might be also considering the move.

Along with this news is added speculation the conference might be moving to add new schools to the conference. San Diego State and SMU are the two most frequently mentioned at this time.

It’s quite clear time is ticking for Kliavkoff and the conference. The remaining corner schools could also be considering a jump to the Big-12. Should the Pac-12 lose more schools than just Arizona, they would likely need to fill those vacant spots.

Oregon and Washington have been widely linked to the Big-10 and a potential invitation from that conference. At this time it seems like the B1G will hold off on any future invitations.

For now it will be interesting to hear the results of the offer from Kliavkoff Tuesday morning and gauge the decisions of the current members. While conference realignment remains a hot topic in college football and at Oregon, it’s likely to remain a slow (er) process.
