Report: Memphis, Tulane, USF expected to announce commitment to AAC amid Pac-12 expansion attempt
An official decision from Memphis, Tulane and USF regarding a potential move to the Pac-12 is expected for Monday, but a report from Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports may have spoiled their announcement.
According to Dellenger, the three AAC programs are expected to reveal a commitment to the AAC, opting to remain with the conference over moving to the Pac-12. The Pac-12 has been trying to rebuild their brand, but they’ll have to look elsewhere, as it seems as if Memphis, Tulane and USF won’t be joining.
“Memphis, Tulane & USF are expected to soon announce a commitment to the AAC, sources tell @YahooSports,” Dellenger reported. “After talks with the Pac-12, the schools determined that they will remain in the AAC, where commissioner Tim Pernetti is exploring P-E, new distribution models & expansion.
“The three AAC programs received on Monday proposed terms from Pac-12 that included projected annual rev numbers ($10-15M), a 5-year grant-of-rights & only partial coverage of $25M AAC exit fee.”
