Report: Cowboys to promote Steve Shimko to QB’s coach

According to SI’s Albert Breer, the Dallas Cowboys are promoting Steve Shimko to quarterbacks coach for the 2025 season. Shimko was on last year’s staff under Mike McCarthy but was just an offensive assistant. He will now have a more defined role, getting to work with Dak Prescott.

“The Cowboys are promoting Steve Shimko to quarterbacks coach, per source,” Breer said via X. “Shimko—well thought of by Brian Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott, among others in Dallas—spent time previously with Schottenheimer in Seattle. He was Boston College’s OC before landing in Dallas in 2024.”
