Report: Cam Ward not expected to take part in drills at NFL Combine

It is reportedly uncertain if Miami quarterback Cam Ward will throw at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to NFL Network.

“Per Tom Pelissero on Good Morning Football, it’s uncertain whether Cam Ward will throw at the Combine,” Ian Rapoport wrote on Twitter. “But, Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart, Bama QB Jalen Milroe and Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard will throw.”

This comes on the heels of Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders saying he would not throw at the combine, choosing to only do so at his Pro Day and only conduct interviews in Indianapolis.

So other than the top two quarterbacks, according to projections, the other big named QBs will throw in front of scouts during the combine.

There has been a lot of debate regarding Ward’s draft stock this season. A prolific quarterback throughout his college career, Ward got better each and every season.

He or Sanders is considered the top passer in the draft and could very well be a top five pick at minimum.

Two such ESPN experts — Jordan Reid and Matt Miller — sparred over Reid’s emphatic suggestion the Titans should go all-in on its offseason overhaul and take the draft’s top-ranked quarterback, Ward, at No. 1 and not think twice.

“I believe Cam Ward is being severely underrated in this year’s draft class,” Reid said on ESPN2’s Field Yates’ NFL Mock Draft 3.0 special. “When I look at Cam Ward, I see a quarterback that got better every single year. When you think about his career, everywhere he’s been whether it’s at Incarnate Word in the FCS ranks, Washington State or most recently at Miami, he’s had a profound impact everywhere he’s been.”

Ward certainly impressed in 2024, leading the entire FBS with 39 passing touchdowns last season, ranking second nationally with 4,313 passing yards on 67.2-percent passing while spearheading the Hurricanes’ No. 1-ranked offense in his first and only year in Coral Gables.

Of course, such a move would likely mean the Titans are officially moving on from third-year quarterback Will Levis, who’s started 21 games over the last two seasons after Tennessee selected him with the 33rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

The NFL Draft is scheduled for April 24th to 26th in Green Bay.
