Refs miss clear hit to head of Jameis Winston in fourth quarter vs. Broncos
NFL officiating has been known to be questionable, and that remained true during Monday’s Week 13 matchup between the Denver Broncos (7-5) and Cleveland Browns (3-8).
In the fourth quarter with Denver holding a 31-25 lead, Browns quarterback Jameis Winson was sacked by Broncos linebacker Nick Bonitto for a loss of 14 yards. But as Bonitto was bringing Winston to the ground, linebacker Jonathan Cooper came in and delivered a shot to Winston’s head. No flag was thrown on the play for roughing the passer.
The sack and subsequent no call killed Cleveland’s drive, as they were forced to punt the ball away with 12:48 remaining in the fourth quarter.
