Red Morgan impressed with the Miami Hurricanes after wrapping up his official visit: “It’s just different here”

Phoenix City (AL) Central High School DB Red Morgan took his Miami Hurricanes official visit this weekend and was impressed with all that he saw during his time in Coral Gables.

“Just hanging around and being around everyone was great. It’s just different here,” Morgan told CaneSport. “I get why when people ask why would you come to The U. This is something that you would want to be apart of.”

For Morgan it was his third and final visit of the summer, with the first two going to Florida State June 2 and Cincinnati June 9.

“Riding around the city and getting to know everything with coach Cristobal was my favorite part,” Morgan said. “Also the meeting with coach Guidry where he was telling me if I come here I can make a big impact on the defense. If I could he thinks I can be a freshman All-American.”

Morgan has relatively flown under the radar during this recruiting cycle, and Miami had its chance to make a recruiting pitch this weekend.

The Hurricanes message?

“Come to The U to be U,” Morgan said. “When they told me that message it did something to me.”

Miami, Florida State, Alabama, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, and Auburn are the schools that Morgan says he has the most interest in at the moment.

So where exactly does Miami stand now in his picture?

“Miami is most definitely high on my list right now,” Morgan said. “The history of the programs stands out. You’ve got guys like Ed Reed, Sean Taylor, and Ray Lewis that have all played here.   I liked to be like those guys one day.”

Morgan said entering the visit that a decision will come during the season but it may come sooner than expected.

“I’m close to my decision but I don’t have decision date yet,” Morgan said. “My biggest thing is going to be my relationship with the coaches.”

Morgan is rated a 3-star prospect and is the nation’s No. 502 overall prospect and No. 47 safety.

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine lists FSU, Cincinnati and Miami in that order, but with all within seven percentage points of each other and each above a 20 percent chance.

CaneSport’s take

Miami seems to have made a strong impression on the Alabama native after spending time with the coaching staff and 2024 commits this weekend. While Morgan is unsure whether he will commit anytime soon, he believes Miami while be a school he heavily considers when the time comes.
