Recruiting Position Review: Wide Receiver

Recruiting Position Review: Wide Receiver

Oregon holds a trio of 2024 commitments at wide receiver, all from blue-chippers. 4-stars Jordan Anderson and Dillon Gresham are from Southern California, while 4-star Tyseer Denmark hails from Pennsylvania.

The wide receiver board has been confusing for many fans; it can seem as if Junior Adams adds a new target daily. With three already on board, how many more will the Ducks look to add?

Let’s break it down.

Oregon is widely seen as the leader for Mater Dei wideout Jack Ressler, a 3-star in the On3 Industry Rankings. Oregon picked up some steam with Ressler after he visited in early May with his Mater Dei teammates.

Ressler measures 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, and he has good speed for the position. He’s set to take his official to Oregon on June 23.

Another target Oregon where looks to be among the leaders is St. Louis (Mo.) 4-star Jeremiah McClellan. McClellan has an official visit to Oregon on June 23, the same weekend as Ressler.

The wild card for McClellan is Ohio State and Brian Hartline. Ohio State looks to be the team to beat, because as usual with the Buckeyes, they often land the highest-rated prospects available.

Should tOSU move on from McClellan, however, it would be the perfect opportunity for Adams to make his move.

Ryan Pellum of Long Beach (Calif.) looks to be a top priority and a guy who will always have a spot should he want it. A top 100 player nationally, Pellum has been a longtime target for Adams and has family ties to the Ducks.

It looks to be a battle between USC and Oregon. Pellum is set to soak in his official visit to Eugene on June 23.

River Rouge (Mich.) 4-star Nick Marsh is another top 100 player who has mentioned an official visit to Eugene. However, Marsh has not yet locked in a date with Oregon and recently received a prediction to Penn State from On3’s Chad Simmons.

Bredell Richardson of Tampa (Fla.) is another 4-star to whom Oregon has been linked. The Ducks are in his top 4 despite not making his previous cuts.

Richardson told On3’s Jeremy Johnson that a visit to Oregon was likely June 5.

If I were to go through every receiver linked to Oregon, I’d be here all day. So I’m just going to list a handful of others that have been connected to Oregon.

Malachi Durant from Seattle (Wash.) is the closest geographically. Ryan Wingo is from St. Louis (Mo.), Gatlin Bair from Burley (Idaho) and James Madison II from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.).
