Recruiting notes from the 2026 class
South Carolina’s staff is still in the midst of a recruiting dead period until August 31. That means that the next opportunity for the Gamecocks to host recruits for campus visits is for the home opener against Old Dominion.
On September 1, the staff will be able to hit the road to drop in at prospect’s schools and take in games. That period will last through the reminder of the season.
— One of the prospects who visited for South Carolina’s recruiting cookout event back on July 26 that we haven’t discussed: North Carolina linebacker Dallas Brannon.
The 6-foot-1, 205-pounder also visited Michigan over the summer, and the Wolverines appear to be a factor here as well.
A three-star linebacker, Brannon is plenty familiar with Shane Beamer’s program. He was on campus back in spring for a practice and has worked out at a camp in Columbia, too.
As for the cookout experience, Brannon gave it a strong review, saying that he enjoyed spending time with coaches and other prospects and playing games.
While there’s no firm date or game set, he plans on being back this season for a game at Williams-Brice Stadium.

— Carter Bashir is a name to know out of the 2026 class at the tight end position.
He carries an offer from the Gamecocks, as well as Boston College, Miami, and Syracuse.
The Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) product camped in Columbia over the summer and told GamecockCentral.com that he enjoyed working with Shawn Elliott as well and that the facility really stood out to him.
Bashir is one of seven tight ends known to have a South Carolina offer for next cycle.
— Unless the date changes, Alabama linebacker/EDGE Keenan Britt out of the 2026 class plans to announce a commitment on August 10.
While Auburn currently leads the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine on Britt’s profile, South Carolina’s put itself in a strong position following Britt’s visit to Columbia last week.
The connection here is that Director of Player Personnel/Recruiting Darren Uscher had offered the Oxford (Alabama) product and began to build a relationship when he was at Oregon.
