Recruiting intel: The latest on four-star PF Jarin Stevenson
Four-star Jarin Stevenson took an official visit to Alabama this weekend. This is the fourth official visit for the 6-foot-8 power forward. He has also visited Georgetown, Missouri, and Virginia.
Stevenson, the reigning North Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year, is the No. 28 player in the 2024 On3 150. We first mentioned the talk of Stevenson moving into the 2023 class back in February. This conversation has only gotten stronger with time; sources close to the recruitment say Stevenson’s reclassification is a real possibility. One source added everything is in line if he wants to go ahead with it.
The schools
Sources say that Alabama and North Carolina are two possibilities for this reclassification to happen. It has been well documented, Stevenson’s connection to the Tar Heels. His high school is less than 20 miles from the Dean Dome, and his mother won three ACC Championships at North Carolina.
Despite being on campus many times, he has not officially visited North Carolina yet. Sources say that North Carolina is recruiting him as a 2024, but would also take him as a 2023.
Alabama is the newest school in the mix for the four-star. They came on strong during the April live evaluation period and were able to get Stevenson on campus the weekend following the second live evaluation period, a weekend that saw Stevenson’s Team United team go 3-1. Stevenson is averaging 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds on Nike’s EYBL Circuit. Sources made note that Alabama brought Stevenson on campus as a 2023 recruit.
Alabama is also recruiting Stevenson’s long-time Team United teammate in the 2024 class, four-star shooting guard Cam Scott.
Jarin Stevenson is an October 2005 birthday, putting him on the young end of the class but making him eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft if he were to go that route. As the current rule stands, a player has to turn 19 by the end of the calendar year (December 31) of the draft year he is in.
The rosters
North Carolina is bringing in two high school players, Simeon Wilcher, and Zayden High. They have added four players, Cormac Ryan, Harrison Ingram, Jae’Lyn Withers, and Paxson Wojcik, through the transfer portal. Currently, there are 11 players on scholarship for the 2023-24 season. There is still talk of 2024 commitment Elliot Cadeau classifying up to 2023.
Alabama is bringing in two transfers, Aaron Estrada and Latrell Wrightsell. They have a three-man high school class, Sam Walters, Mouhamed Dioubate, and Kris Parker. Charles Bediako, Jahvon Quinerly, and Mark Sears are testing the NBA Draft waters while keeping their college eligibility. If those three return, the Crimson Tide currently has 11 players on scholarship for the 2023-24 season.
Stevenson’s On3 NIL Valuation
2024 four-star power forward Jarin Stevenson’s current On3 NIL Valuation is $210k. This valuation ranks Stevenson No. 31 in the On3 high school basketball NIL Ranking.
The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets the standard market NIL value for high school and college-level athletes. A proprietary algorithm, the On3 NIL Valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a specific moment in time.
The On3 NIL Valuation is comprised of many dynamic data points that focus on three primary categories: social media, athletic performance, and endorsements and collectives.
