Rebel Roundabout: Ole Miss football’s WRs room is an embarrassment of riches

Rebel Roundabout: Ole Miss football’s WRs room is an embarrassment of riches

Things are happening in Ole Miss football recruiting.

The Rebel wide receivers room was already an embarrassment of riches. But the addition of Izaiah Hartrup (Southern Illinois), who committed on Friday, adds even more firepower. He posted 706 receiving yards last season.

Camp season is underway. Ole Miss is also hosting a number of top high school prospects on campus this weekend, including a couple of official visitors.

The Rebels currently boast the No. 16 overall recruiting class in the country, as updated by On3 on Saturday. Leading the way is a quartet of four-stars, including wide receiver Jerome Myles, Utah’s top prospect

Myles recently jumped 161 spots to five-star status on 247. Myles is ranked No. 118 nationally by the On3 Industry Ranking, which takes into account rankings from the four major recruiting service. He’s the No. 15 wide receiver.

Myles was sidelined for a portion of last season after breaking his ankle Week 2. He still finished with 486 yards and six touchdowns on 19 receptions. Myles had five receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns in leading Corner Canyon to a 6A state championship.

“He has great size and strength so he won’t get knocked off routes,” Eric Kjar said, Myles’ high school head coach, said. “Ball skills are elite (and) top-end speed is elite.

“He’s a very physical blocker. Great teammate, too.”
