Ranking the most likely Big Cat Weekend Auburn commitments

Big Cat Weekend went from talk to action: It is here and it is close to kicking off. Auburn landed one of its biggest targets in 5-star linebacker Demarcus Riddick from Clanton (Ala.) Chilton County on Wednesday. Will Big Cat Weekend provide more good news? Probably.
As we have documented since the beginning of July (and even before then), there will be several important 2024 targets on campus.
This list is strictly for those who might pull the trigger while on campus. If a recruit will be on campus, but has a date set for after the Big Cat event, they will not appear on this list. It will also include only 2024 recruits.
We love a good ranking at Auburn Live. So, here is a ranking of the most likely to commit down to the least likely to commit during Big Cat Weekend.
Keep in mind, this is OUR opinion, not Auburn’s..
No. 1 – WR, Malcolm Simmons, Alexander City (Ala.) Benjamin Russell
Simmons went from being unclear where he stood with Auburn to No. 1 on the possible commitment list in less than a month. His performance at Auburn Elite Camp was enough to surge him up near the top of the list for wide receivers. Auburn is the clear-cut leader for Simmons and a resolution could happen at Big Cat.
No. 2 – WR, Perry Thompson, Foley (Ala.)
When the month of July began, Thompson probably would have been much lower on this list. With a big announcement (without prompting) that he would be at Auburn’s Big Cat, more intel, and a resolution to the Auburn, Alabama battle, there is no doubt a decision is coming soon. There is growing confidence that it could happen at Big Cat Weekend as the event approaches.
No. 3 – OT, Reese Baker, Huntsville (Ala.) Madison Academy
Baker picked up an RPM prediction shortly after picking up the offer from Auburn. He has been back on campus for camp and will return once again for Big Cat. Auburn Live has heard that there could be a resolution to this recruitment one way or the other soon. If Baker shows up to Big Cat as he is expected, he very well may walk away committed.
No. 4 – DL, Dimitry Nicolas, Opa Locka (Fla.) Monsignor Pace
Nicolas is one who continues to rise up this list. The only drawback, and the only thing keeping him from being higher on the list, is that he has never been to Auburn. He may need to see more before pulling the trigger. Then again, the excitement of the event and the extra effort from Auburn recently could be enough to put an end to his recruitment.
No. 5 – LB, Bradley Shaw, Hoover (Ala.)
Shaw would not have been on this list earlier in the week. He is now on it, and probably trending up. With Shaw expected to be at Big Cat, is it possible the Tigers try to go ahead and lock him down? Maybe. There is no real answer to this one yet, but the feel on the Auburn side is good if the Tigers should push.
No. 6 – OL, Deandre Carter, Santa Ana (Cali.) Mater Dei
Carter comes in with the lowest confidence of leaving Auburn committed. However, he cannot be ruled out. He is not coming back and making the long trip for nothing. Auburn is very much in this one and could be the leader. If that is the case, why wouldn’t he leave committed? There may be a few more visits on the schedule. More will certainly be known about his recruitment as a whole after this weekend.
