Quick Longhorns recruiting notes from Texas Relays

Quick Longhorns recruiting notes from Texas Relays

Several of the Texas Longhorns’ top recruiting targets are in Austin this weekend for the 95th edition of the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Speed, speed, and more speed was on the agenda. Inside Texas caught up with a handful of the Longhorns’ top skill position targets. Here are a few tidbits from the track.

Micah Hudson, WR, Temple (Texas) Lake Belton

If the Lake Belton Broncos aren’t competing Saturday at the relays, Hudson and his mother might make it over to the football offices for a visit with Steve Sarkisian and staff.

Texas, Texas Tech, Alabama, Ohio State, and Texas A&M are recruiting him the hardest right now.

This will be a marathon so just buckle up and enjoy the ride. He’s looking at a late cycle decision.

Selman Bridges, CB, Temple (Texas) Lake Belton

Bridges loved his visit to Austin last weekend and is looking to set up his official visit to Texas in late June.

He loves that Texas uses five defensive backs and could see himself in Jahdae Barron’s role.

USC will also get an official, and he has stops at Arkansas, TCU, and LSU planned. He’ll be in Baton Rouge on April 22nd.

Myles Davis, S, Converse (Texas) Judson

The 6-foot-1 safety hit Austin’s cookout last Saturday and loved the atmosphere and experience. He might make it over to the football facility on Saturday, but if he’s still competing he’ll likely see College Station tomorrow evening instead. Chalk it up to NCAA rules regulating visits to the host of an athletic event. Those rules prohibit players from making a visit to a university the same day they are in competition.

Caden Durham, RB, Duncanville (Texas)

Texas offered the quick tailback soon after he helped the Panthers capture the UIL 6A-DI state championship.

With a 10.44 in the 100m today, Durham is one of the fastest prospects in the state.

Oklahoma is probably the leader here as he grew up north of the Red River. He is looking at an official visit to Norman in June.

Texas has identified the two running backs they want in 2024 (Jerrick Gibson, Christian Clark). Still, the UT staff continues to evaluate Durham.

Gatlin Bair, WR Burley (Idaho) Burley Senior

Bair posted a personal-best 10.18 100m in the prelims at Texas Relays with a just-outside-legal wind of 2.1 m/s.

On Wednesday, Bair made his way to the football facilities to visit with Chris Jackson, and enjoyed his time speaking with the Longhorns’ wide receivers coach.

Texas is fighting for a spot in his top five. He plans to graduate a semester early, then go on a LDS mission, so he’ll be on a college campus in January 2026.

Corian Gipson, DB, Lancaster (Texas)

Gipson just got back from a visit to Clemson, where Dabo Swinney‘s program issued an offer to the On3 Industry Ranking four-star. The Tigers made such an impact that Gipson plans to be back for the Clemson spring game and for an official visit.

Clemson was on Gipson’s mind on Friday when recapping his recruitment. He also has visits scheduled to Alabama and Ohio State in addition to his planned Texas visit on June 24.

Gipson revealed a top five and a commitment would be coming soon. When asked if the commitment would be before or after the visits, he replied “we’re going to see.”
