QB Colton Gumino lands Gators offer, official visit possible
The Florida Gators on Thursday offered 3-star quarterback Colton Gumino of Elmhurst (Ilii.) John Hersey one week after he threw for the coaches in Gainesville.
To Gumino, it was a huge moment.
“Florida has been a dream (school) of mine since I was young!” Gumino told Gators Online. “Florida is a special place and Coach (Billy) Napier is building something special here!”
According to Gumino, the Gators have talked to him about possibly getting him back on campus for an official visit this fall.
“I think the Ole Miss game they want me to do my official,” he said.
Gumino, listed at 6-foot-2 and 192 pounds, is the No. 83 quarterback in the country for the On3 Industry Rankings. Per MaxPreps, he completed 118 of 178 passes for 2,172 yards, 27 touchdowns and 4 interceptions last season.
Colton Gumino visited the Gators last week
After Gumino camped with the Gators on June 3, he told Gators Online he was offered a preferred walk-on spot. “Florida went great. I was offered a PWO until they see one more QB,” he said.
UCLA arguably is Gumino’s other most notable offer. He previously visited the Bruins and will officially visit them June 21.
“I really want to play at a high level!” Gumino told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “I want to go to school I can compete and learn football — I think Coach Foster has changed UCLA and it’s an exciting place! Coach (Eric) Bienemy is a tough OC and has high expectations and I like that style of coaching.”
Florida does not yet have a quarterback committed in the 2025 class. FSU 4-star commit Tramell Jones of Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin visited the Gators on Thursday. Additionally, they’re in the mix with 4-star prospect Antwann Hill of Georgia — but Memphis is considered the favorite to many.
