Puma Pro16 Circuit: Recruiting Notebook

Puma Pro16 Circuit hosted its first full circuit event last weekend in Memphis. Almost 200 teams, spread across the middle school to u17 age groups, were in attendance from across the country.

Below is a list of notes and the latest recruiting intel that I learned and gathered during my time in Memphis when it comes to top players and their college recruitments.
4-star PG Kingston Flemings
Kingston Flemings has had a rapid rise into four-star status. The 6-foot-3 point guard followed up a stand-out showing at the USA Basketball Final Four mini-camp where he was one of the top point guards in the event. He followed that up with a standout showing in Memphis during the Puma Pro16 Circuit’s first stop. Flemings is now tracking as one of the top overall point guards in the 2025 class.
He has already taken an official visit to Texas Tech. Flemings has a long-standing relationship with the Red Raiders’ Director of Recruiting Kellen Buffington. Sources close to the recruitment suggest they will be in there until the long haul. The other program I am hearing a lot with Flemings is Houston.
Flemings tells On3 that he hears the most from Houston right now and sources say he has taken note of what the Cougars have been able to do with guards like Jamal Shead, Marcus Sasser, and Quinten Grimes in recent years. While currently, I would call this a two-team race with Houston and Texas Tech, it is worth watching programs like Kansas and Arkansas.
4-star C Xavion Staton
Xavion Staton burst on the science last summer, playing with the Las Vegas Knicks program. Over the past 12 months, he has developed into one of the premier rim protectors in the country. Staton has set his first official visit, to Arizona. A source close to the recruitment suggests to watch this visit. UNLV has been involved for a while, they are the hometown program and the program sources say Staton has been around the most. Another program to watch if they make a move is Kansas.
He does not have any other visits set yet. It does not feel like this one is close to being over. Sources also close to the recruitment suggest that some new schools could jump into the mix during the live period. Watch the Arizona visit, and continue to pay attention to timelines.
4-star SF Nik Khamenia
Nik Khamenia is a skilled 6-foot-7 forward ranked among the top 40 players in the country in On3’s 2025 rankings. Coming off a California Open Division championship at Harvard Westlake/CA, he has taken an official visit to Gonzaga. Khamenia had only positive things to say about the visit, and sources tell me that the stylistic fit (positional fluidity) and former players have caught Khamenia’s eye with the Zags.
Two other programs I expect to have staying power in this recruitment are UCLA and Virginia. I am told that he has not set official visits to either yet, but both programs have been recruiting him for a while and he consistently mentions both programs when talking with him.
One source told me that Khamenia is not opposed to going east for college, in piecing things together, another source close to the recruitment suggested watching for UNC here if that offer does come. This recruitment has started, but it does not feel like it’s close
3-star G Kelvin Odih
Kelvin Odih is ranked among On3’s top 150 in the 2025 class, however, as things are going, it would not surprise me to see him be a pretty significant spring season stock riser. The 6-foot-4 guard has taken an official visit to Marquette. To this point that is his only official visit. They have done a good job early in his recruitment, building a relationship with him.
Rutgers, Iowa, Texas A&M, and Xavier are some other programs I am hearing with his recruitment. Like Staton, sources suggest that he is one that could see a recruiting boost after the live period plays out. I am told that Marquette has laid some good groundwork early, and the other schools mentioned, notably Rutgers and Xavier, have built a good relationship. Continue to pay attention to see what schools come into play that could shift the recruiting lens.
Other Puma Pro16 Circuit Recruiting Notes
3-star PF Gevonte Ware: The 6-foot-9 forward has had a foot injury for the better part of the last year. He is back now, healthy, and playing at a high level. Coming into this week’s live period, Duquesne, Mississippi State, and Wake Forest are the three offers in hand. He will have a handful of programs tracking him through the weekend. A source tells me they would not be surprised to see the On3 4-star walk out of Wichita with a handful more offers.
4-star PF Chris Cenac: is a top 20 player in On3’s 2025 class. He has not taken any visits yet, so things with his recruitment are just getting started. Cenac tells me schools like Houston, LSU, SMU, Oklahoma, and Louisville have done a good job with him early. Sources close to the recruitment expect this recruitment to reach new levels in time.
4-star SG Kayden Edwards: has not set any official visits yet, and TCU is the only current staff he has visited, and they are the local school. The 6-foot-2 guard is playing a different role with this YGC team than he plays with this Duncanville High/TX team, so coaches will be able to see him in a different light. Sources say that TCU has done a good job of building an early relationship. Edwards says SMU has caught his eye with new coach Andy Enfield and Kellen Buffington at Texas Tech has a long-standing relationship with Edwards. Things are still early here, so pay attention to the official visits he sets.
3-star SF Cameren Paul: has taken one official visit, to Mississippi State. They were on the 6-foot-6 wing early and have built a relationship with him. SMU, Ole Miss, and TCU are some other schools to continue watching in this recruitment.
