Priority OL sees Gamecocks again, sets officials

The South Carolina Gamecocks are putting together one of the nation’s top offensive line classes for the 2024 cycle, but the work is not yet complete.
Another significant target for Shane Beamer’s staff at the position is DMV-area product Mike Williams, who traveled back to Columbia on Saturday to take in USC’s spring game.
“The trip went great,” Williams told GamecockCentral.com. “What stood out was how much they treated you like family down there.”
This was the Springdale (Maryland) Flowers product’s second trip to the Palmetto State this calendar year. Since USC’s become involved, the bonds he’s created with the staff have been strong.
Said Williams; “My relationship with the coaching staff is great. What’s hard not to like about the guys, they are all characters.”

Potential position coach Lonnie Teasley, in particular, has made an impression on the 6-foot-5, 310-pounder.
“I feel like he’s my real family, you know?” said Williams. “I can sit down and have a conversation with him even if it has nothing to do with football.”
The Gamecocks have another helpful tie to Williams; freshman EDGE Desmond Umeozulu is a former high school teammate of the big offensive lineman.
Umeozulu has given some positive reviews of his first months on campus to Williams. What’s the message been?
“It’s great, competitive and mind opening,” Williams relayed. “Overall, it’s something new.”

From here, Williams is looking at a slate of summer official visits prior to rendering a decision in the lead-up to his senior season.
South Carolina will score the first the weekend of June 2.
That will be followed by officials to Michigan State (June 9), Virginia Tech (June 16), and Miami (June 23).
What does Williams think about the possibility of joining a Gamecocks offensive line class that already includes Blake Franks, Kam Pringle, and Josiah Thompson?
“I think they’re putting together something great and I could potentially see me being apart of it,” he said.
