Previewing day one: Shane Beamer Football Camp 2024

Friday kicks off day one of Shane Beamer Football Camp in South Carolina.

GamecockCentral.com will be on hand with complete coverage, but there’s some information to report in advance of the first session.

Here’s more for members on some of the names to expect in town.

— The conversation has to begin with Blackville-Hilda’s Jaquel Holman, who will be at camp looking to earn what he’s called his dream offer from South Carolina.

The three-time track state champion is someone that Clayton White and Torrian Gray have wanted to get a closer look at in camp to see where he projects positionally at the next level.

The athletic tools seem to be there. The question is what the staff thinks about his position and potential.

— One young prospect who is expected to be on hand has some interesting ties to the Gamecocks.

2027 WR Joshua Davis out of AC Flora plays his high school ball with Max Elliott, son of South Carolina tight ends coach Shawn Elliott.

The first Division I coach to extend an offer to Davis? Former Gamecocks wideout Jason Barnes, now an assistant at Charlotte.

— Speaking of young, how about 2028 athlete Caleb Ivey out of Dutchtown (Georgia)? He is expected to be in town to work out as well.

The 6-foot defensive back already carries an offer from Arkansas.

— Another local product, 2025 defensive back Zay Mathis, has offers from Georgia Southern, App State, and Arkansas State. The Gamecocks staff will get a look at him on day one.

— Virginia’s Brady McIntyre, who has an offer from Pete Lembo at Buffalo, will be working out on the offensive line.

— Three quarterbacks of interest will throw for South Carolina offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains on Friday.

Tennessee’s Cooper Newman threw for 1,900 yards last season, and the 2027 product already carries an offer from Virginia Tech.

Florida’s Champ Smith (also 2027) has offers from Maryland, Arkansas, and Mississippi State and is also slated to be in Columbia to throw.

Loggains will also get a look at another 2027 standout, the recently offered Trent Seaborn out of Alabama.

— At running back, in-state product Jevon Edwards will be in town; he carries scholarships from East Carolina, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, and others.

TJ Lester out of Milton (GA), who has an Indiana offer, will also work out on Friday.

— 2026 wide receiver Carnell Warren out of Bluffton will perform drills and catch balls in front of receivers coach Mike Furrey.

Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, and Cincinnati have offered the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder.
