Prediction TwosDay: Two New Recruiting Predictions

It might end up being a relatively quiet back half of the month of May. The last few days the Ducks have cleaned house with some portal additions. However it feels like the Ducks might be about done in the transfer portal now.

June is shaping up to be a big month in recruiting. Many of the nation’s best are taking official visits including a big weekend shaping up June 23 at Oregon.

But the Ducks might have at least one more commit this month. There are a pair of recruiting targets committing Saturday, May 20. I’ve already got an Oregon prediction in for four-star quarterback Michael Van Buren. But I think the Ducks might get the 2-fer Saturday.

Four-Star DL Xadavien Sims – Oregon

Confidence: 55%

A little confidence for Oregon here as the Ducks battle Oklahoma. Sims visited Oregon two times in as many weeks. Which is quite unusual for someone from a half-dozen states away. Heading into those trips, the Sooners were heavily favored.

Now I won’t call this a done deal yet. But I think Oregon’s confidence grows as the week goes on. This was a tough pick to make but I do think the Ducks might pull off the double-quack on Saturday.

Four-Star QB Akili Smith Jr. – Oregon

Confidence: 85%

This one has very much felt like Oregon’s to lose. Smith obviously has the strong ties to Oregon with his father being a famous alum for the Ducks. But I don’t think this staff has taken that for granted. Already Smith has found himself as the No. 8 quarterback in his 2025 class in the On3 Industry Rankings. With Oregon potentially signing two prep quarterbacks in 2024, I would wager they are one and done in 2025.

Smith had a very strong visit to Oregon for the Spring game. And right now I think it’s going to take something absolutely insane to get him from committing to the Ducks when he’s ready.
