Predicting the Ole Miss Rebels’ next addition to the 2024 class

Heading into the month of July, the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin have turned up the heat on the recruiting trail. After adding nine commits this month, the 2024 class is now sitting comfortably inside On3’s Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings. The group is currently ranked 22nd.
Of the 16 commits, 38 percent are from the state of Mississippi and the class has a 25 percent blue chip rating. Kiffin’s group has four four-stars and the highest-rated three-star commit is Anthony Robinson of Destrehan (La.), a dominant high school program.
Now with dead period coming to an end in a few weeks and spots running out in classes all over the country, prospects are going to start pinpointing decision dates. Several prominent targets are on the verge of making an announcement and/or have decision dates set.
Let’s take a look at who could be the next public commitment for Ole Miss.
3-star EDGE Maurice Davis
School: Albany (Ga.) Dougherty
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 580
On3 RPM: Ole Miss 91.5%, Louisville 4.4%, USF 2.9%
Randall Joyner is a big fan of Davis’ game and thinks the 6-foot-4, 215 pound recruit could be an early contributor with his skill set. Golding loves his dynamic speed rushers in his 3-4 scheme and Davis fits the bill there. Louisville is fighting hard and USF got the last official visit. But, right now I would say the Rebels are trending in the right direction with a decision looming.

3-star IOL William Echoles
School: Houston (Miss.) High
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 811
On3 RPM: Ole Miss 97.6%, Auburn 1.4%
Ole Miss defensive line coach Randall Joyner and defensive coordinator Pete Golding have been busy inside state lines, recruiting some of the best recruits in the southeast. They snagged Bay Springs (Miss.) four-star last weekend and another could be in the mix.
The Houston (Miss.) three-star might be listed as an interior offensive lineman but Joyner and Golding are recruiting him as a defensive lineman. The 6-foot-4, 290 pound prospect hold notable offers from Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn, Louisville, Missouri and Houston but as of this writing the Rebels hold the edge.

3-star TE Dillon Hipp
School: Scottsdale (Ariz.) Desert Mountain
On3 Industry Ranking: No. 960
On3 RPM: Ole Miss 80.8%, Arizona State 4.2%, TCU 3.6%, Baylor 3.0%
The 6-foot-6, 230 pound prospect just wrapped up his final official visit at Baylor but Rebels are still the heavy favorite. If Ole Miss can stave off the other finalists, I think John David Baker and Kiffin can get its tight end of the future.
“I loved everything about it,” Hipp said. “Oxford is really nice and all the people were so friendly. That’s what I’ve always heard about. I was eager to see it because everyone says it’s a classic college town.
“I spent the entire day with him. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.,” Hipp said. “Our relationship as a whole got a lot closer today. We talked about everything but mostly about what it would mean for me to pick Ole Miss. I truly believe in him as a coach.”
