Podcast: Previewing the NFL Draft and who replaces Michigan’s stars

The Michigan Wolverines send another batch of pro hopefuls to the NFL Draft this weekend in Green Bay with as many as four first-rounders, which would set a program record for the first night of the event.

Michigan’s draft contingent this year, defensive tackles Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, cornerback Will Johnson and tight end Colston Loveland, all have a chance to be special in the right setting, and it will be fun to see where they end up.

TheWolverine.com’s Anthony Broome and Chris Balas preview the 2025 NFL Draft, where Michigan’s draftees might go and who replaces them in the lineup next season.

”Talent wins,” Balas said on the show. “And the good news about Michigan is that a lot of these guys that were drafted weren’t five-star guys. They were developed under Jim Harbaugh and his staff. And you’re hoping that that continues under Sherrone Moore. But they were really good at identifying talent. They were really good at developing these guys.

“So I think the odds are really good on at least two first-rounders this year. Unless something surprising happen, I could see three. Four is a stretch. But man, I’ll tell you what, I’d take Kenneth Grant in the first round if I were a really good team like the Kansas City Chiefs always do. They always take these Michigan guys late and always pay off for them. Seems like land Michigan. That, that would be a, a no brainer for me. Kenneth Grant, late in the first round. So gonna be fascinating to watch.

“Will Johnson, there are some questions about his durability, some questions about his health.. I can’t really get a read on what’s gonna happen with him.”

The timeline of today’s show is as follows:

(00:00) Intro
(5:14) Will Johnson
(10:56) Mason Graham
(13:38) Kenneth Grant
(18:18) Colston Loveland
(24:34) Josaiah Stewart
