Pierceson Coody owns lead after opening round of ISCO Championship

While most of the big names in the professional golf world are across the pond playing in the Genesis Scottish Open in preparation for next weekend’s 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland, there is another professional golf tournament taking place in Central Kentucky.

In the opening round of the ISCO Championship at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, we saw multiple players have a birdie party during the first 18 holes.

Former No. 1 amateur Pierceson Coody sits at the top of the leaderboard heading into round two. The 24-year-old fired an impressive 61 that included 11 birdies and seven pars to take a two stroke lead at 11-under. The round tied the course record at Keene Trace. Do not expect the scorecard circles to stop now.

There are currently 22 players within five shots on the lead. There are 42 players within six shots of the lead. A fast pace has been set in this alternate event on the PGA Tour with 54 holes of golf remaining. Expect an exciting tournament over the next three days.

Golf Channel and Peacock will broadcast parts of the 2024 ISCO Championship. Friday coverage airs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. before the cut arrives. Television coverage is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
