Pensacola ATH has high interest in Hurricanes after landing offer: “Miami is a great place to be”

Pensacola (Fla.) Pine Forest three-star athlete Zion Legree had already landed a handful of offers from Power Conference programs like Notre Dame, Auburn, Washington, Mississippi State and Kentucky before Miami pulled the trigger. But after landing an offer from the Hurricanes, the 6-foot-1, 190-pound prospect says he is “very” interested in The U.

Legree landed an offer late last week after Miami cornerbacks coach Chevis Jackson visited his school. He said he wants to determine when he can visit Miami’s campus.

“The feeling (landing the offer) was amazing,” Legree said. “I was practicing when (my) coach walked up to me and asked me what I thought about The U. I love The U and can’t wait to get down there for a visit. My reaction was lit to get an offer from one of my dream colleges and to be somewhere my family is.”

Legree said he’s ready to see what Miami has to offer and thinks the Hurricanes have a “great program” and could be the perfect fit. He said Miami is building itself into the powerhouse program that dominated college football during the ’80s, ’90s and early 200s  and are poised for success sooner rather than later. He said he also knows the school has a strong academic reputation.

“Miami is a great place to be and is filled with loving people that want the best for you and to get you to the next level,” Legree said. “I had a few conversations (with the staff before the offer) , but I’ve never visited the school. But (I’m) looking forward to.”

Legree’s offer comes as the Hurricanes continue to blast out new offers to 2026 prospects while the coaching staff remains on the recruiting trail. The Hurricanes are on pace to finish with more than 120 offers out to 2026 prospects, which they’ve done each cycle since head coach Mario Cristobal arrived in Coral Gables.

CaneSport’s Take

Legree is listed as an athlete and starred as a do-it-all playmaker Pine Forest frequently targeted Legree last season on everything ranging from jet sweeps and screens to deep shots and one-on-one fades in the end zone, and he looks like he’ll fit best as a slot receiver at the next level unless he’s able to add a few inches. However, he has the skillset and body control of an X or Z receiver and could play on the perimeter depending where he ends up.
