Penn State tight end Brenton Strange is one of NFL Draft’s most ‘underrated players’; Lions hockey season ends: Newsstand
Penn State news, notes, and updates for March 27 include praise for Brenton Strange, plus the end of the Lions’ hockey season and more.
It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.
Penn State tweets of the day
We start with hockey. The men’s team fell a step short of making their first Frozen Four on Sunday night. Head coach Guy Gadowsky’s Nittany Lions dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Michigan in the Allentown regional final of the NCAA Tournament.
“Penn State is a really, really good hockey team,” Michigan head coach Brandon Naurato told reporters after the game.
“They’re very well coached. think we had to earn everything we got tonight, and that could’ve gone either way.”
In other news, former Penn State tight end Brenton Strange is one of the most “underrated” players in this year’s NFL Draft class, according to ESPN analyst Todd McShay.
“Brenton Strange,” McShay wrote on Twitter. “Get to know that name. The Penn State TE is one of the least talked about and most underrated players in the draft. Combine numbers were pedestrian but his tape is impressive. Despite a loaded TE class, you’ll hear his name called Night 2 of the NFL draft.”
Strange talked about his draft outlook following Penn State Pro Day last Friday.
“Basically, every single team, they just love how I’m a versatile piece and that’s kind of what I was for Penn State, too,” Strange said.
“Not every week you’re going to see me get the ball, like, 5-10 times a game. But some weeks you are. So I do a lot more things that are kind of unseen in the game and they realize that and they know I’m a moveable piece. I could play fullback. Whatever it is, that’s what I told them I want to do to help a team be successful, even play on special teams, too.”
