Penn State target Deyvid Palepale sets July commitment date

Penn State football target and Pennsylvania native Deyvid Palepale recently released his top three schools. Now, the Class of 2024 defensive lineman has set a decision date.

Palepale will pick between the Lions, Michigan, and USC on July 1, he announced Friday morning. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle from Landisville, Pa., plays at Hempfield High. He is a three-star prospect according to the On3 Industry Rankings.

“On the field, I cause chaos,” Palepale previously told On3. “I can read the offense and defense, whether I’m on offense or defense. I’d say my IQ is pretty high football-wise, and I just play with aggression.”

Where Penn State stands in Deyvid Palepale’s recruitment

Penn State hosted Palepale for his first official visit during the first weekend of June. The Wolverines hosted him a weekend later. And, USC will have him on campus next weekend.

The Lions have hosted the defensive lineman five times, which is more than any other school. But, the Wolverines have also made him a priority for a long time, while the Trojans have more recently emerged as a serious contender.

Palepale previously told BWI sister site The Wolverine that Michigan was his leader. And, the Big Ten East program leads for him in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine by a wide margin. That said, Penn State continues to push to keep the talented Pa., prospect in the Keystone State as decision day nears, and has been for months. A spring unofficial visit went a long way toward setting up the summer official visit.

“Last time I was up there was for the White Out game,” Palepale told BWI after an April unofficial visit. “Of all the times I’ve been up there for camps and games, I’ve never really been able to do a full tour of their facilities. So, going up on this most recent visit, I got to do everything. I saw their academic halls, their facilities, their dorms and different things like that. We also spent a lot of time with Coach [Deion] Barnes and [Alan Zemaitis], which was really good.

“I also got to spend a lot of time around their players, specifically Dvon Ellies. I thought he was really cool, especially with both of us sharing the same heritage and being Samoan. That kind of gave me a sense of comfort talking to him and seeing similar people of my heritage there.”
