Penn State hosting four-star prospect committed elsewhere for official visit this weekend

Penn State’s official visit weekend just got even more intriguing.
In addition to hosting a potential five-star prospect in Benedict Umeh, as well as five other four-star players, Blue White Illustrated has confirmed another key player who’s on campus this weekend in Philadelphia native Tyseer Denmark.
A four-star wide receiver prospect from Roman Catholic, Denmark has long been considered one of Penn State’s top receiver targets in the 2024 recruiting class. Last fall, many believed the Lions were trending with the 5-foot-10, 185-pound wideout, only for him to ultimately end up committing to Oregon in November.
The On300 receiver has remained committed to the Ducks ever since although that hasn’t stopped James Franklin and his staff from continuing their pursuit. In fact, Denmark was expected to visit Penn State unofficially back in the spring. It was ultimately canceled when those plans became public.
The ‘S’ Zone – Prepping for Penn State’s third official visit weekend
“I think relationships have always been the main thing with him the entire time,” said Roman Catholic head coach Rick Prete in a previous interview. “It’s not just about the logo. He’s really been focused on the schools that are focused on him.”
New Penn State wide receiver Marques Hagans is still searching for his first commitment at the position. With 18 players currently committed in the class, it’s the only position left that’s yet to earn at least one commitment so far.
However, that is expected to change in the near future. In addition to Denmark, PSU is hosting two other top receiver targets in New York native Josiah Brown and Pittsburgh native Peter Gonzalez. Gonzalez is believed to be leaning toward the Nittany Lions. We logged a pick for Penn State in On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine earlier this week. Brown has interest in Georgia and Rutgers.
Other notable receivers who have taken an official visit to State College so far include Nick Marsh, Jaylan Hornsby and Chance Robinson. North Carolina native Alex Taylor will take his first trip to Penn State next week. The staff also plans to host the nation’s No. 1 receiver, Jeremiah Smith, and four-star IMG Academy prospect Jerrae Hawkins next weekend, June 23-25.
