In other news, former Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford has won the backup job with the Green Bay Packers. The NFC North franchise picked the former four-year starter for the Nittany Lions in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He then impressed during camp and the preseason.

“I think it’s safe to say Sean’s our No. 2 quarterback,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur told reporters. He will work behind starter Jordan Love during his rookie season.

Quote of the day

“I wouldn’t say comfortable; I think we’re in a good spot. I think we have a good group of guys. But, it’s not anything that’s set in stone. So I would say that we have a group of guys competing to be those guys, and it’s just going to play out throughout the whole season. The best guys that give us the best chance to win, those will be the guys that will be in the rotation week in and week out.”
