Peach State OL on the Florida Gators: ‘Almost every coach on the staff hits me up’

Peach State OL on the Florida Gators: ‘Almost every coach on the staff hits me up’

It’s safe to say mutual interest is significantly high between the Gators and 2025 offensive tackle Tavaris Dice.

The Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes standout was offered by Florida during a campus visit in March and then returned for last month’s invite-only Grill in the Ville cookout. On top of that, roughly a handful of staff members are communicating with him, including Billy Napier and Rob Sale.

Dice, 6-foot-6, 275 pounds, is equipped with additional offers from Georgia, LSU, Auburn, South Carolina, Miami, Missouri, Maryland and Louisville among others.

“We talk almost every week. Almost every (UF) coach on the staff hits me up, especially when August 1 hit. I was glad to talk to them all and had just got back from the Grill in the Ville event. They treated me like family,” Dice told Gators Online.

“Their main message was, ‘Coming here, you are going to get better. You are always going to have somebody to train with and they’re going to prepare you to go to the league.’”

The Gators have earned top-contender status from Dice

Although a list of top schools has yet to be constructed, Dice is comfortable with labeling the Gators as a top contender in his recruitment. Much of that can be credited to UF’s all-in approach.

“Things have been going good with them. They make sure they keep in touch with me. I have a really good relationship with them right now,” said Dice. “They are a top-five school for me in the future because of the coaching staff and culture they have.”

Fellow SEC program is pushing the hardest early on

When asked who is recruiting him the hardest, Dice said LSU and that Brian Kelly’s staff reaches out “every few days.”

The Gators, however, are trending in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. Those early odds are currently at 54.9 percent. In-state UGA checks in at No. 2 with a percentage of 25.2.

Going forward, Dice plans to be active throughout the fall to soak up game-day environments.

“Not any yet, but I’m going to look forward to scheduling them. I’m just waiting to see what free time I have on my schedule,” Dice said of visits.
