Passion of Michigan OL coach Sherrone Moore standing out for Ohio OT Sam Greer
Michigan is digging deep into the 2026 prospects native to Ohio in hopes of early offers cultivating into commitments.
Among the six freshmen just south of the border with U-M offers, four reside in the northeast section of the state, including two who attend the high school of Akron Archbishop Hoban – wide receiver Payton Cook and offensive tackle Sam Greer.
Greer, the 6-foot-8 and 290-pound mauler, is quickly jumping on the boards of elite programs and the Wolverines wasted little time to show interest.
Getting recruited by some of my favorite schools (has been the most exciting part of the process),” Greer told The Wolverine. It was really exciting (for Michigan to offer) and it really meant a lot to me.”
Archbishop Hoban is known for its Power 5-bound talent produced annually. Soon set to be inducted to the program’s hall of fame is Michigan graduate assistant LaTroy Lewis. Greer is one-of-three Hoban players who’ve added the Wolverines to their offer sheet so fa.
A standout on the basketball court, Greer publicly reported the offer on social media this past weekend after talking to Michigan offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore.
The fact that U-M has captured consecutive Joe Moore Awards, is churning out linemen destined for the NFL and is actively recruiting the state of Ohio with an iron fast have vaulted Greer’s interest of the team.
Michigan’s offensive line really stands out because they’re great every single year,” Greer said. Coach Moore and me had some good talks with some of my teammates. He seems like he would be a great coach because of his passion.”
Greer, who’s also the second Ohio offensive lineman in the 2026 class to get a Michigan offer, will look to schedule his first-ever visit to Ann Arbor as early as this summer or to check out a game at The Big House in the fall.
Leaving campus with a keen sense of how the operations are run, as well as how the facilities and campus are set up, will be of the upmost importance for Greer.
Along with the Wolverines, Greer holds offers from Miami, Ohio State and Florida. The Buckeyes were the first to pull the trigger on Greer.
Michigan doesn’t have any verbal commitments in the 2026 recruiting class.
