Packed recruiting intel: Sunday evening NC State OV update

This weekend kept NC State extremely busy. Ronnie Royal III committed Friday before seven official visitors began to arrive on campus later that day. Then, quarterback Will Wilson kicked off the 2025 class with his commitment.
From the Wolfpack’s top cornerback prospect, to a former Big-10 tight end, the program hosted a super intriguing group of prospects. Here’s the latest intel from the weekend.
Three-star cornerback Jivan Baly
Jivan Baly, the No. 1 cornerback on the Pack’s recruiting board, announced late last night that he will share his decision at 7 p.m. Sunday. NC State and Mississippi State both hosted him this month, but all of the buzz continues to drift towards the Wolfpack.
I am keeping my predicting in favor of NC State. He has been a top defensive back target for the program for months, with multiple SEC and ACC teams involved in his recruitment. This would be an important recruiting win for the Pack.
Three-star offensive tackle Deryc Plazz
Deryc Plazz named Miami his leader last week, but his recruitment is not over. Everything went well this weekend with the key offensive tackle prospect and his family. His mother, father and uncle all made the trip.
The Hurricanes could be tough to beat here, but do not underestimate the lineman’s bond with offensive line coach Garett Tujague. Plazz will publicly announce his decision in September, but a silent commitment could possibly come sooner than that, per a source. Despite a lengthy Power Five offer list, I would lean towards this coming down to Miami or NC State.
Three-star linebacker Elijah Groves
The current buzz in Groves’ recruitment is that Kentucky and NC State have emerged as the favorites. His trip to Raleigh went well, per a source. Groves visited Kentucky unofficially earlier this month and previously shared that he plans on committing July 1.
Three-star lineman Justin Terrell
NC State improved its standing in Justin Terrell’s recruitment this weekend and, per multiple sources, had a great time during his official visit. The Wolfpack is one of his top-two schools. He declined to share the other leader of his recruitment, but he recently visited UNC, UVA and Cincinnati.
Three-star offensive tackle Tyler West
Based on what I have heard today, Tyler West enjoyed the trip but did not reveal much about where he is leaning. The priority tackle prospect also took an official visit to Duke earlier this month and an unofficial trip to Georgia Tech. It sounds like his recruitment could wrap up before the fall, but the lineman has not publicly shared a decision timeline.
Defensive lineman Chris Burge
Leeds (Ala.) High defensive lineman Chris Burge did not receive an offer from NC State during his official visit, per a source.
Penn State tight end Mega Barnwell
There has not been a ton of buzz out of Mega Barnwell’s visit so far, but he arrived Saturday, and I confirmed Saturday that NC State is recruiting him to play tight end.
