Packed recruiting intel: Robby Martin update and notes from the road
TheWolfpacker.com hit the road Wednesday morning for Charlotte, stopping by a couple of schools to check in with a pair of priority NC State wide receiver prospects and learn more about the city’s top underclassmen recruits.
In addition to updates on three-star rising juniors Arrion Concepcion and Jerel Bolder, we put together a quick update on Robby Martin’s visit, which never occurred due to circumstances out of anyone’s control.
An update on 3-star IOL Robby Martin
Martin, the top-ranked uncommitted offensive lineman on NC State’s recruiting board, planned on visiting Wednesday to meet with the staff and hear the program’s final in-person pitch before his Aug. 31 commitment date.
The priority lineman and his teammates nearly made it to Raleigh before travel issues prevented the trip from happening. He tried to make the visit happen later in the day, but it did not work out.
Martin’s recruitment has been extremely quiet ever since he wrapped up official visits, but there has been some positive buzz around the Pack dating back to the days following his June 16-18 trip to NC State.
Moving forward, a source informed TheWolfpacker.com that the lineman has obligations Friday and Saturday that will prevent him from visiting anywhere this weekend. Tomorrow is an open date to my knowledge. I am keeping an eye on a potential trip to West Virginia, but I get the impression that Martin does not plan on taking any other visits based on a recent conversation I had with a source.
It sounds like the main purpose of Wednesday’s visit was for NC State head coach Dave Doeren to meet with the three-star lineman. That conversation, which I assume is the Wolfpack’s final pitch, will still happen over the phone at a date and time still to be determined.
Three-star wide receiver Arrion Concepcion
Concepcion visited Alabama this week and continued to prepare for his junior season with Chambers High during Wednesday’s summer workout. He stopped by NC State recently to spend time with his brother, Kevin Concepcion, but that was not an unofficial visit due to NCAA rules. The Wolfpack will host him Friday for the Alpha Wolf Showcase.
NC State is in a great spot here, but I am not anticipating an early decision from the receiver. His recruitment has not blown up yet. Once he gets some tape out from his junior year, that will likely change. There are going to be a ton of college coaches looking at the Chambers program this fall, so Concepcion will have every opportunity to built a lengthy offer list. He does not have a decision timeline set this early in the process.
It is also worth noting that the receiver is friends with four-star defensive back Jontae Gilbert and is talking to him about teaming up in Raleigh.
Three-star wide receiver Jerel Bolder
NC State is making Bolder a top priority in the 2025. Based on the conversations I had with the receiver and his head coach, Jammie Deese, it sounds like wide receivers coach Joker Phillips is building a great bond with the rising junior and the Forest Hills High program.
Tennessee is the standout program in Bolder’s recruitment right now, and he will travel to Knoxville Saturday. He also might make the drive to Raleigh for the Alpha Wolf Showcase, but that is not set in stone. South Carolina also remains involved in his recruitment.
The Wolfpack will likely host him for a game this fall, and I expect the program to be a top contender.
Additional notes from the road
Both Bolder and Concepcion look like the have grown since earlier this year. Their listed heights and weights are probably not representative of where they stand now. They both look physically prepared for their junior years.
Chambers High’s defensive back and wide receiver rooms are stacked with talent. Jeremiah Harrison really impressed me during practice today with his route running and excellent hands. The rising junior receiver could factor into the starting lineup in an extremely deep receivers room. He holds offers from Virginia Tech and Charlotte, and I think his potential is just as high as Concepcion’s. Harrison told TheWolfpacker.com that he might visit for Alpha Wolf.
Tyran Evans is a future elite recruit out of Chambers. Florida, Virginia Tech and others have already offered the 6-3 class of 2026 prospect. I heard from a source that Evans’ performance at the Pack’s 7-on-7 tournament this summer really impressed the staff, and an offer in the near future would don’t surprise me.
Keep an eye on freshman Chambers cornerback Marley Vincent. He will play with the varsity squad this year, and the defensive back is generating some positive buzz during the offseason.
Class of 2025 Forest Hills offensive lineman Braxton Grace is 6-2, 285 pounds, and Deese said he is someone who could potentially develop into a Group of Five or Power Five level prospect. He camped at NC State this summer and holds a Charlotte offer.
