Oregon Ducks advance to second-straight Super Regional
Oregon finished off a clean sweep of the Santa Barbra Regional on Sunday, defeating UC Santa Barbra 3-0 to advance to the Super Regionals in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history.
After defeating UCSB 2-1 on Saturday, the Ducks put together an even better defensive performance on Sunday against the Gauchos. Highlighted by senior Oregon pitcher Kevin Seitter, who pitched a complete game shutout and reflected on the win following the game.

“It’s awesome, it was a great team win and we’ve been working for this for a while and to come out here and show it and get the job done means the world,” Seitter said moments after teammates dumped a cooler of water on him in celebration. “I’m so happy for my teammates, I’m so happy for my coaches, and so happy for Duck Nation. This is a huge win for us and I couldn’t be prouder of the guys.”
Seitter had a career-high 128 pitches on the night. Allowing just four hits and striking out seven batters in a masterclass performance on the bound. With a UCSB not getting past second base until the ninth inning in what Seitter admitted was the best game of his career.
“It’s gotta be number one … without a doubt it’s number one. The atmosphere tonight was electric. Obviously, the Santa Barbara Community did a great job coming out and hats off to them. They’re a great squad, great program,” Seitter said.
While Seitter shut down the Gauchos’ offense, the Ducks found theirs periodically. Scoring their first two runs off of respective RBI singles from Drew Smith in the first inning and Mason Neville in the fifth. Capped off with a solo home run from Jacob Walsh in the seventh inning that extended the lead to 3-0 and tied the single-season program record with 18 homers.
“These are the games that we try to thrive in, in our program,” Seitter said. “Where we come into a ballpark, we’re the away team, and maybe the odds are against us. But we rally behind that idea and we’re gonna come through every time.”
The Ducks will face off with Texas A&M in the Super Regionals which start next weekend with hosts being announced Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET.
