Oral Roberts celebrates trip to the CWS for first time in 45 years

The No. 4 seed Oral Roberts Golden Eagles magical 2023 campaign continues. The Golden Eagles defeated the Oregon Ducks 11-6 on Sunday evening in Game 3 of their Eugene Super Regional to punch their tickets to the 2023 College World Series. It marks the first time Oral Roberts has made an appearance in the CWS since 1978 and just the second time in program history. With their win on Sunday evening, they tied the school record for the most wins as a Division I program (51 wins). It also marked their 21st road victory of the 2023 campaign.

In the Stillwater Regional, ORU defeated Oklahoma State, Washington, and Dallas Baptist. In winning that, they punched their tickets to their first Super Regional since 2006 against the Oregon Ducks. It took three games for the Golden Eagles to finish off the Ducks in front of their home fans.

As a No. 4 seed, Oral Roberts became just the third No. 4 seed to reach the College World Series since 1999. The Golden Eagles joined Fresno State (2008) and Stony Brook (2012) as the only teams to accomplish the feat.

With the win, Oral Roberts improved to 51-12 overall this season. It’s just the fifth time in program history ORU has notched 50 wins on the season and it’s the first time since 2004.
