On3’s Charles Power evaluates running back commit Matthew Fuller

On3 updated Jesup (Ga.) Wayne County running back Matthew Fuller‘s ranking last month, moving him into the On300 and slapping a four-star rating by the South Carolina commit’s name on the site.
On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power recently joined the GamecockCentral crew on GC Live to go in-depth on Fuller as a prospect and discuss his ranking.
“Matthew Fuller has a pretty good resume, body of work for what we look for critical-factor-wise at running back,” Power said. “Had a productive junior year, I think he had like 1,700 yards, ran for a lot of touchdowns. Had a good track season too, in addition to kind of having a sturdy build. So he ran like, I believe he ran, sub 11, 100 meters. And I think at his size and just the going back and watching his junior film, just the whole kind of physical package with how explosive he is, the size, his ability to pop off long runs, the production.”

Fuller, who originally debuted as a three-star prospect on On3, committed to the Gamecocks in late June.
With his move in the On3 rankings, Fuller is now considered the No. 282 overall prospect and No. 23 running back as well as the No. 31 prospect in Georgia in the 2024 class.
With that, Fuller has also moved up in the On3 Industry Rankings, a weighted average of the four major recruiting media companies.
The Industry Ranking considers Fuller a three-star prospect with a rating of 87.52 and he’s ranked the No. 658 overall prospect and No. 53 running back in his class.

As a junior, the 6-foot, 210-pound Fuller racked up 1,757 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging 6.8 yards per carry in the process.
“I think he stacks up pretty well within the running back group and has some really positive indicators,” Power said. “I think moving forward, you probably want to see him get a little more efficient as a runner, average, I believe, like under seven yards of carries. You kind of want to see that go up. That’s typically a pretty good indicator for just how explosive and consistent at maximizing yardage running backs are. But it’s his junior year, so I would expect him to improve as a senior.”
