On300 OL Matty Augustine goes in-depth on Michigan, summer visit
Michigan hosted a number of talented underclassmen recruits for unofficial visits over the summer, including Matty Augustine.
The 2025 On300 offensive tackle out of Greenwich (Conn.) Brunswick School had a chance to work out with offensive line coach Sherrone Moore during U-M’s camp and also got an in-depth look at the program.
“It was an amazing visit and camp,” Augustine said. “I really enjoyed getting coached by Coach Moore and all the assistant offensive line coaches. The energy was up the whole camp. I got to see the campus, the facilities and The Big House. It’s an amazing place overall.”
Moore has been making Augustine a priority for next cycle, and the two are quickly developing a strong relationship.
“I love him,” Augustine said. “Having an offensive line coach that’s also an offensive coordinator means a lot. The coaching staff puts trust into what he does, and obviously, he knows what he’s doing. He’s producing the best offensive line year after year, which is cool to see.”
Moore has an easy sell to top offensive line recruits like Augustine after leading Michigan to back-to-back Joe Moore Awards.
“That impresses me a lot,” Augustine said. “They are the best offensive line. You know if you go there, you are getting the best development you can get. They produce NFL talent. Whatever you want to see out of that offensive line, I’m sure you’re going to see it this season.”
Augustine is set to be back in Ann Arbor for an unofficial visit in November when Michigan takes on rival Ohio State.
“I just can’t wait to see that place packed,” Augustine said. “I’ve never been to a Michigan game before. I know it’s going to be crazy, but seeing the atmosphere, Coach Moore coach and the offensive line in-person is what I’m really looking to see.”
Augustine said Michigan is ‘pretty high’ on his mind but doesn’t have a short list at this time. He wants to take a slow approach with his process.
Along with Michigan, Augustine has offers in hand from Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Texas A&M and a number of other major programs.
At 6-foot-7, 265 pounds, Augustine is ranked as the No. 23 offensive tackle and No. 294 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of Connecticut for next cycle.
