On300 Michigan OL commit Blake Frazier goes in-depth on weekend official visit

Michigan hosted several commits for Victors Weekend, including one of the biggest leaders in the class in Blake Frazier.
The On300 offensive lineman out of Austin (Texas) Vandegrift is a legacy recruit and all too familiar with what Michigan has to offer. His official visit more so served as one big bonding experience.
“The whole weekend was a highlight,” Frazier said. “We had been talking on the phone but getting to see all those guys was a different thing. It lived up to the hype. There wasn’t a dull moment. Everyone was clicking with everyone. We just had a good time bonding and hanging out with the coaches we’re going to be with for the next three or four years. It was just really fun.”
This weekend marked the first time all five Michigan offensive line commits were together in Ann Arbor. Frazier had previously met Ben Roebuck and Luke Hamilton, but this trip gave him a chance to get know Andrew Sprague and Jake Guarnera.
“It was a lot of fun,” Frazier said. “You get the feeling you’re going to click, but seeing them in-person is different. You realize these are your brothers now. We’re already a family. It was a lot of fun to bond with those guys and realize we’re going to do some serious work together. The sky is the limit. It’s unreal the bond we already have. I challenge you to find a group of guys that loves each other like we do.”
Along with playing paintball and eating plenty of food, the offensive line commits also met with position coach Sherrone Moore for a group film session.
“That was cool because we got to see certain things we do that Michigan runs,” Frazier said. “The plays will get a little more complex, but we already know the idea behind a lot of the offense. Learning the terminology will be the hard part. But getting to see that we’re already learning now was a really cool thing.”
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh was also very involved on the visit.
“We had a whole commit meeting with Coach Harbaugh, and it was less of a message because we’re already committed and on the same page,” Frazier said. “It was more answering questions for parents. We knew a decent amount of what was being asked. My mom got a lot of her academic questions answered. It was really cool to see how he interacted with everyone.”
Frazier also had high praise for Michigan’s players, including host, Tristan Bounds.
“I got to hang out with (Bounds) a lot on my last visit,” Frazier said. “It was cool seeing him again. I also hung out with Cole Cabana and Jordan Marshall quite a bit. Cole is awesome. He was really fun to hang out with him. I was with Tristan the most, but I was with a lot of the other guys as well. There is no doubt we’ll all get along great. If our class is any indication of the culture Michigan has created, I have no doubt Coach Moore looks for the same thing in all his guys. He wouldn’t have recruited us if he didn’t think we would click with the guys already there.”
When asked what presentations stood out to him the most, Frazier was quick to point to strength coach Ben Herbert and lead nutritionist Abigail O’Connor.
“The nutrition and strength and conditioning were the biggest ones,” Frazier said. “I’m an undersized offensive lineman, so getting to see the plan when I do get there to get to my desired weight was really cool. You get to see how Abigail puts it all together. There is no guessing with her process. She puts it all together logistically. Coach Herb is a maniac. If you listen to what he says and do what he says with all you got — embrace it, as Coach Harbaugh says —he’s going to get you where you need to be.”
Of course, Frazier also spent plenty of time recruiting others to Ann Arbor. His primary target this weekend was On300 offensive lineman Michael Uini.
“He’s great,” Frazier said. “We went into the weekend saying we were going to try our best to get him. He just clicked with us immediately. We nicknamed him Pookie. I’m not sure how that happened (laughs). It was really cool to get to bond with him. He’s one of the guys we’re trying to get, and I think we made huge steps towards that.”
Frazier also recruited a trio of other uncommitted targets In Top 100 cornerback Aaron Scott, On300 linebacker Jeremiah Beasley and four-star wide receiver Jordan Shipp.
“Obviously, we got (Devon) Baxter already,” Frazier said. “Aaron (Scott) is hard to read, but he seemed to really love it. He clicked with Jacob (Oden) a ton and Mason (Curtis). If (Jeremiah) Beasley goes to Michigan State, I’ll call him crazy. If Jordan Shipp doesn’t want to play with his two teammates, there is something wrong with him, too (laughs). I don’t think there is a guy that went on that trip that won’t end up at Michigan.”
Frazier committed to Michigan in April over offers from Clemson, Florida, Oklahoma, Penn State, USC, Texas and others.
At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Frazier is ranked as the No. 15 offensive tackle and No. 178 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.
