On3 top-40 DL TJ Lindsey locks in Texas, Texas A&M official visits
On3 top-40 DL TJ Lindsey spent a good chunk of his spring in the Lone Star State as one of Arkansas’ best got a closer look at two of the blue-blood programs in-state.
Lindsey took in spring practices at Texas getting a closer look at Bo Davis and also attended the Texas A&M spring game earlier this month. Lindsey has since locked in his first two official visits to see the Longhorns and Aggies again in June.
Lindsey will return to Texas A&M on June 16-18 for an official visit. He will hit Austin again on June 23-25 weekend for an official visit.
“I’ve enjoyed my time there and I know them (Texas A&M) and Texas are two of my top schools,” Lindsey, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 37-ranked defensive lineman out of Bryant (Ark.) High School, told On3.
“I’m excited to be back.”
Texas A&M catching momentum with Lindsey
Lindsey caught a spring practice at Texas A&M and was back in Kyle Field for the spring game earlier this month.
For the 6-foot-3, 270-pound Lindsey, getting an opportunity to see Elijah Robinson operate in person was a catalyst in his recruitment.
“Coach E, I like how he coaches,” Lindsey said about his time in College Station this spring.
“The game went good and I had a fun time my whole weekend in College Station,” Lindsey continued. “Seeing Coach E coach in person in a game-like situation just boosted their chances for sure. He’s one of the best in the game.”
Davis, Longhorns making an impression
Davis is leading the charge for the Longhorns with Lindsey.
Texas’ defensive line coach has the track record and the persistence that Lindsey is particularly keen on.
“Seeing Coach Davis coach is what I like,” said Lindsey. “He’s a legendary D-line coach, probably one of the best ever, and everywhere I go I hear about Coach Davis.”
“I really saw what everyone was talking about,” Lindsey said of Davis. “You see throughout practice the development, how it gets better. He’s a real coach and all about getting you to the next level.”
Overall, Texas has staying power in Lindsey’s recruitment.
“It was good seeing the team in general,” he added on Texas. “It was a good environment for sure. Austin is a good place to be.”
Lindsey checks in as the No. 418 overall player in the country, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies
