On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine: Notre Dame trending for two four-star wide receivers
Last cycle, Notre Dame landed a trio of blue-chip wide receivers in Round Rock (Texas) Stony Point four-star Braylon James, Austin (Texas) Westlake four-star Jaden Greathouse and Folsom (Calif.) four-star Rico Flores Jr. The Fighting Irish are hoping for similar success recruiting wideouts for their 2024 recruiting class.
So far, Notre Dame has landed Glen Ellyn (Ill.) Glenbard South four-star wide receiver Cam Williams, the No. 33 overall prospect and No. 7 wideout in the 2024 On300. Following industry updates, head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff have a commanding lead to land two more talented pass catchers.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Fighting Irish have a 96.0% chance for a commitment from Warner Robins (Ga.) four-star wide receiver Isiah Canion. The RPM also gives Notre Dame an 85.3% chance to land Charlotte (N.C.) Charlotte Christian four-star wide receiver Micah Gilbert.
Both Canion and Gilbert were in South Bend this weekend for Notre Dame’s Blue-Gold Game. Canion also visited the Fighting Irish on March 5.
“In a matter of weeks, Canion went from little-known prospect to a national commodity,” Kyle Kelly of Blue and Gold said. “Notre Dame was on the front end of his recruitment, offering him a scholarship during an early March visit. Canion is from the same town as Irish wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey, who is leading the charge for Notre Dame. Canion is reserved when it comes to his recruitment and hasn’t given too many hints about which way he’s leaning. However, two trips to South Bend from Georgia in two months speaks for itself.”
Notre Dame is also pushing hard for Gilbert
Gilbert was offered by Stuckey on Feb. 13. He recently included the Fighting Irish among his top seven schools.
“The offer from Notre Dame was very exciting,” Gilbert told Singer on Feb. 23. “I was in touch with them for a while, and they’ve visited my school a few times.”
“I know Notre Dame is independent and plays all over,” he added. “They have a very respectable program.”
The North Carolina native saw Notre Dame for the first time this weekend.
“There are lots of positives around Notre Dame after Gilbert’s first trip to South Bend,” Kelly said. “He had an excellent multi-day visit and had the chance to connect with 2024 quarterback commit CJ Carr. “The recruiting efforts from former Notre Dame defensive lineman and Pro Football Hall of Famer Bryant Young — the father of 2024 defensive lineman target Bryce Young — cannot go understated here. Gilbert and Young both attend Charlotte Christian and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them team up together in South Bend.”
