On3 No. 1 ATH Terry Bussey sets up Oklahoma, Texas official visits

On3 No. 1 ATH Terry Bussey sets up Oklahoma, Texas official visits

The nation’s top-ranked athlete has locked in his first two official visits of the summer.

Terry Bussey, the No. 16 player in the country out of Timpson (Texas) High School in East Texas, has set up official visits to both Oklahoma and Texas. The 5-foot-11, 180-pounder will be in Norman on June 16-18. Bussey will return to Austin for his Texas official visit the next weekend on June 23-25.

Bussey, who has made a string of visits to Texas A&M over the course of his recruitment and this spring got a closer look at SEC programs like Auburn, Alabama and Tennessee, among others, is also working to schedule official visits to Florida and also LSU.

“I could stay in state or I could leave,” Bussey told On3 earlier this spring. “Over time, I’ll figure that out. I don’t feel any pressure to stay in state though.

“What is most important to me are academics, where feels like home and the opportunities outside of football.”

Sooners, Longhorns are up first for Bussey

Oklahoma has received a jolt in Bussey’s recruitment thanks in part to the efforts of first-year Sooners WR coach Emmett Jones. Jones was a central figure in Bussey’s recruitment early on while at Texas Tech, and now has Oklahoma in a position to get Bussey on campus for the first time.

The Longhorns entered the mix with Bussey back in January — soon after Chris Jackson was added to Steve Sarkisian’s staff. The nation’s No. 1 athlete in the country from inside the Lone Star State has already been on campus in Austin for a handful of unofficial visits.

“Texas is Texas, so it stands out. It is a top program with good coaches and a lot of good players.

Texas A&M leads the way on the On3 RPM

After setting up official visits to Oklahoma and Texas, next up for Bussey is locking in dates to get to LSU and Florida. Another SEC team that has loomed large in the elite athlete’s recruitment is Texas A&M.

The Aggies, who love Bussey on the defensive side of the ball in the secondary, have hosted him for several visits over the past few months. They lead the way on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

“It was great being able to watch the practice and see how they operate around there and build up my relationship with the coaches more. Overall, just being there with them was the highlight,” Bussey told On3. “They continually show love. They check up on me every day and overall, we have a great relationship.”

“That’s what puts them on top really,” he said of the Aggies.
