On3 Industry Ranking four-star Zion Williams recaps his recruitment
For 2025 Lufkin (Texas) defensive tackle Zion Williams, this is only the beginning.
The 6-foot-4, 310-pound On3 Industry Ranking four-star is growing into one of the top defensive tackles in the nation. With offers from Texas, Alabama, USC, Notre Dame, and Texas A&M, Williams has the attention of college coaches across the country.
“It’s a blessing to get recruited,” said Williams. “The coaches I talk to the most are from Texas, Texas Tech, and USC. Meeting Nick Saban was definitely cool this summer.”
He began his junior season on Friday night with a 31-7 over Tyler Legacy, tallying a pair of tackles, one sack, and collapsing the pocket multiple times for Lufkin on the evening. On one play, he threw the quarterback like a rag doll.
While Texas Tech and USC are the most active with Williams, he’s been to Austin already and will return in September for a game, he tells Inside Texas.
“I love coach Bo,” said Williams. “I really like what the Longhorns are building. I’m going to try to see a game next month. I’m looking at a few dates. I’m ready to get back to Austin.”
Notre Dame is in the mix too, with Lufkin tailback and teammate Kedren Young committed to the Fighting Irish.
Williams is the No. 294 overall player, No. 31 defensive lineman and No. 51 prospect in Texas, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He’s one spot lower at his position and in the state in On3’s own rankings.
The On3 Industry Ranking rates him at 89.37, which qualifies him as a four-star. On3 gave him an 89 rating, which puts him at three-star status. His On3 NIL Valuation annual value is $21,000.
