In this episode, Justin and Bobby discuss…

Justin and Bobby begin with the latest from the first week of Texas football fall camp. Justin noticed the size and development of the linemen on offense and defense, the depth in the wide receiver room, and more. Bobby mentioned that in his experience, this is one of the better teams he can remember covering though it isn’t quite up to the national championship or Rose Bowl teams… yet.

The two then get into Quinn Ewers, where Justin says “it’s going to come down to getting the ball down the field vertically.” Justin talked about Ewers’ renewed focus off the field that has translated into success on the field.

Justin and Bobby discuss how Alfred Collins had his best practice as a Longhorn on Saturday. “For someone to come out and tell me that, that means he did something on Saturday night really, really strong.” They then get into Barryn Sorrell and the EDGE position, explaining how No. 88 needs to take the next step.

A discussion regarding the young safeties behind Jerrin Thompson and Jalen Catalon ensues. Justin mentioned Derek Williams as a younger player who has done well so far, even with veterans like Kitan Crawford and Michael Taaffe there. Williams has utilized his athleticism early in his career.

A discussion about five-star EDGE Colin Simmons is next, with both Texas and LSU confident they’ll be the pick come August 10. “It’s going to be bumpy, man,” Justin said. Those two are the final two for Simmons, though Miami will have a hat on the table. “Does he want to stay close to mama? How much is family going to factor into this decision? Because he has a lot of friends in Austin,” Wells added.

Kobe Black is another key prospect the Longhorns are after. Wells says the main question is, when is Black going to decide? That will dictate a lot about whether he’ll take visits in the fall or not.

Justin and Bobby conclude with a discussion on if the Longhorns are waning on the trail.
