Ole Miss to host six blue chip prospects this weekend for Saturday’s scrimmage

Ole Miss to host six blue chip prospects this weekend for Saturday’s scrimmage

Ole Miss and head coach Lane Kiffin welcomed in several four-star prospects on Thursday to check out spring practice. Now the Rebels will turn right back around and bring in even more talent on Saturday for the open scrimmage.

The staff in Oxford is starting to really pick up the pace in the 2024 class, adding three commitments last week and catapulting into the Top 20 in On3’s Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings.

Let’s get to it and see who the four-star prospects who will be in Oxford, Miss., for the weekend.

RELATED: Here’s the full visitors list.

4-star DL Kamron Beavers

School: Bay Springs (Miss.) High
On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 107
Status: Not committed

Beavers is a perfect fit for the middle of the defense. Golding will shift Ole Miss from a 4-2-5 to a base 3-4 this season. Beavers is someone who can be a run plugger and a difference maker at the point of attack. There are several big names in the trenches in the 2024 class, especially in-state. Beavers is one the Rebels are watching closely and, as of this writing, I think they get it done.

Golding and defensive line coach Joyner are working together here as well as Ole Miss coordinator of recruiting strategy Kelvin Bolden.

Ole Miss is the runaway leader in his RPM at 96.4%.

4-star TE Kylan Fox

School: Loganville (Ga.) Grayson
On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 189
Status: Not committed

On3’s Jeremy Johnson recently caught up with Fox prior to his weekend trip to Oxford. He has three official visits set up already but is eager to check out Ole Miss. The Rebels were his first offer and it has the program standing out among the others.

“It’s been a long road with them,” Fox said. “They’ve been recruiting me hard since they offered me. I haven’t been on campus yet, so I finally get to get on campus and see what they have to offer and see if I like it.”

Memphis transfer Caden Prieskorn will team up with Michael TriggKyirin Heath and Jayvontay Conner in 2023. Several times the Ole Miss offense stalled in the red zone because of the lack of tight end presence.

John David Baker is recruiting Fox to be the next in line in Oxford. Head coach Lane Kiffin has made a career out of turning tight ends into big-time playmakers and NFL players.

4-star OT Jac’Qawn McRoy

School: Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville
On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 229
Status: Not committed

Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss Oregon and Tennessee made the 6-foot-8, 340 pounder’s top schools list. He’s already taken trips to Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia and Kentucky. Last weekend he was at Auburn and he’s been to a few Georgia games as well.

Ole Miss offensive line coach John Garrison and offensive staffer Dane Stevens are the primary recruiters for McRoy. The Alabama prospect was quite candid with On3’s Chad Simmons when discussing what will attract him most to his future home.

“No more camps just training,” McRoy said. “I’m trying to set up an unofficial to Ole Miss now. They’re trying to get me up there.”

Sources tell OMSpirit McRoy reminds the Ole Miss staff a lot of starting right tackle Micah Pettus. He does plan on making a verbal commitment before his senior season starts.

4-star WR Noreel White

School: Ocean Springs (Miss.) St. Martin
On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 238
Status: Committed to Arkansas

White shocked a lot of people when he announced his commitment to the Arkansas Razorbacks earlier this month. But the communication from Ole Miss hasn’t slowed down at all.

“Ole Miss stays on me,” White said. “They stay on me hard.”

He says he talks the most with coordinator of recruiting strategy Kelvin Bolden, wide receivers coach Derrick Nix and wide receiver graduate assistant Heath Dedeaux.

National sources agree with OMSpirit this recruitment is long from over. And this weekend’s visit could go a long way. Razorbacks staffer Marcus Woodson has done a fantastic job early on, but Kiffin and Co. are hitting the in-state targets hard this cycle.

4-star CB Jaylen Thompson

School: Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Riverdale
On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 308
Status: Committed to Michigan State

The 6-foot, 175 pound defensive back committed to Mel Tucker and the Spartans after Christmas. But he is still taking visits. Former Ole Miss staffer Sam Carter was recruiting him but now new cornerbacks coach Keynodo Hudson will be welcoming him to campus.

The 28th-ranked cornerback in the country has been on Kiffin’s board since last summer so this weekend’s trip should go a long way in determining if he will stay there or not.

4-star ATH Julius Pope

School: Batesville (Miss.) South Panola
On3 Industry Ranking
: No. 312
Status: Not committed

The 6-foot, 195-pound rising senior is just starting to take visits after bursting onto the scene. He visited Alabama and Arkansas earlier this year and is now making the quick 30-minute drive down Highway 6 to Oxford. Golding and Bolden are prioritizing Pope early on and there could be an offer coming this weekend.

Pope tells Simmons he will also go to Louisville on April 7, Mississippi State on April 15 and Oregon on April 22.

“I can’t wait to get out more and see different schools,” Pope said. “On these visits, it shows me the culture and how I could fit in there. That is very important to me. The people I will be around is something I pay attention to.”
